Have you ever admired high-end mirrors which make a room seem brighter and more elegant only to cringe when you saw the price tag? I know I have. What if I told that you could achieve a similar look at a fraction of the price? This is exactly what I did, when I recreated a Ballard Designs inspired window pane mirror.
I first bought three door mirrors at Walmart for only $5.88. If they didn’t come in the color I wanted I spray-painted the frames black. Some elbow grease and some tape went a long ways. I even painted the pink undersides with a small brush to give them a clean appearance.
To create the effect of a window pane, I used E6000 glue to attach trim moulding around each mirror. To keep everything straight and even, I used scraps of wood as spacers. Finaly, I attached double-sided foam adhesive to the back of every mirror and stuck it to the wall. The result? I spent less than $50 on a mirror that is salon-worthy and sophisticated.

But why stop there? This DIY project isn’t just about saving cash, it’s about the satisfaction that comes from creating something beautiful by yourself. It’s incredibly rewarding to walk into a room and see a piece that you created hanging on the walls.
Why not give it a go? You don’t have to spend a lot of money to transform your home. You can create stunning decor with a little creativity.
